Marble
What is Marble?
Marble is a metamorphic rock formed when limestone is exposed to high heat and pressure during metamorphism. It is primarily composed of the mineral calcite, but may also include other minerals such as clay, mica, quartz, pyrite, iron oxides, and graphite.
The metamorphic process causes the calcite in limestone to recrystallize, resulting in marble’s distinctive interlocking crystal structure. This natural stone is commonly used for countertops due to its elegant appearance and durability.
